Previously this year in March, my first child was stillborn. Now by the will of God I have been gifted with the blessing of being pregnant again. I am scared but also excited at the same time. Following my difficult and heart breaking time which I am still suffering from including a bad experience and unprofessionalism from most of the members of staff on the maternity ward.
I feel that I am now again experiencing inhumane and cold heartedness from members of staff this is from both the community midwives and those in hospital in the ante clinic as well as doctors.
Following the stillbirth of my daughter, I was promised a very structured care plan by staff members at the hospital for this 'next pregnancy care plan'.
I was informed that I would be under the care of a consultant and would be always be seen by two appointed midwives. However this has not been the case and instead I have experienced more distress my members of staff who continuously question my previous medical history and are not sympathetic.
The appointed two midwives and consultant were assigned so that it would prevent further distress of keep having to repeat what had happened. At the time of writing, I have only been seen once by these two midwives and not even once by the consultant even though I had a 'consultant review'.
The consultant was present that day in and out of clinic but I never saw them and instead a different doctor. I also was advised to stay in touch with community midwives for after care even though I have a high risk pregnancy, but whenever I have been to the community midwives they have always complained and said inappropriate remarks to me.
Will I ever get the care plan I was promised? Did I have to go through all this pain and then further write this in order for someone to actually pay attention to my circumstances.
Overall, the care I have received so far has been of very poor quality, I think that staff members need to realise it is somebody's life and not something to be taken lightly.
