This was the worst experience ever, I was verbally abused, having a mobile phone shoved into my face and called Morbidly Obese, also telling me to buy a fit band, they also told me to go away and lose 4 stone then go back in a year’s time, making the appointment all about my weight and not the Gynaecological problem I had.
I was then referred to the Bariatric Team, but I cancelled this appointment.
The consultant also told me that I could report them if I wanted to.
They said this knowing that nothing would be done!
I have complained to the hospital but now had to go to the ombudsman as it has been ongoing since Oct 2016, but they seem to think that a letter of apology is acceptable as they will use it for future training, they also tried blaming the NICE standards, but please remember folks, they are just guidelines, they don’t have to be followed.
It is down to each person’s individual needs. (That is if you are listened too)
On the up side – GP referred me to a much better hospital at Newcastle, had the operation done and was back at work within 4 weeks.
With thanks to a great Consultant and Team at Newcastle.
To the Patient Experience Team – please don’t refer this to the Matron, they don’t even know what a high blood sugar level reading should be!
"Worst consultation of my life"
