"I will choose the sedation next time"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

I went for a regular endoscopy at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline in August 2017. The service was very good. The staff were friendly and efficient and I didn't have to wait too long. However, I chose to try gas and air instead of the normal intravenous sedation and it was a mistake. The procedure was quite painful mainly as a result of the CO2 gas used to inflate the bowel. The gas and air did not seem to have much effect. I will choose the sedation next time.

Dear Jhoncito

Thank you so much for your feedback. I am sorry that you found the procedure quite painful, I hope you have recovered well. It is good to learn that despite a not so pleasant procedure you had friendly and efficient staff who looked after you. Patients do comment about different experiences with regards to the effects of sedation and entonox (Gas and air), unfortunately this time the gas and air was not as effective. I hope that sedation will work better for you next time.

Kindest regards
