"I turned up at a quiet A&E in..."

About: Hereford County Hospital

What I liked

I turned up at a quiet A&E in the early afternoon with a painful knee (subsequently diagnosed as a torn ligament) but was turned away without any effective medical examination etc and told to go to a GP because outside the remit of the Hospital.

I am surprised that I could not be seen at a Hospital which is stuffed full with nurses, doctors, X-ray, scanners etc when with pain.

Admittedly my injury was not at all urgent or an emergency but the department seemed fairly quiet and not under any great pressure.

.

Furthermore what dreadful PR for the Hospital that rather than inspiring me with its treatment, it turns me away leaving a bitter taste.

What could be improved

A bit of Common Sense
