Having chosen Frimley Park Hospital as my preferred provider, I was sent an appointment to see the surgeon within a few weeks.
The first positive action in this journey.
Having had my examination and consultation with the most charming colorectal surgeon, I was advised that I needed to have a procedure in the endoscopy unit.
Not something I was really looking forward to, but it had to be done.
On the day all went really well. It was a Saturday, which meant that I did not need to take time off work! (working for the NHS too, this was particularly important to me).
I barely had time to read my book before I was clerked by an endoscopy nurse who explained everything to me.
I did not have sedation, and probably on reflection I would have liked to have the choice.
The procedure was done in a very discreet, dignified manner and I did not feel embarrassed at any point of the proceedings.
The nurses in the recovery area were also kind, polite and caring and I could not praise them more highly for their care and good humour, which is something that is really needed after such a procedure!
Well done Frimley - now looking forward to my day case operation!
