"Whitley Ward"

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital / Accident and emergency

I had a weeks stay in Whitley Ward, I have never seen doctors and nurses work so hard, even short staffed they made sure patients were all looked after and cared for. They were all amazing.

I went in with Cellulitis which turned into blood poisoning.

I couldn't have had better care plus the ward being on the ground floor was very comfortable and thank god for the televisions to watch (with headphones).

The only regret I have is that I should have taken the two doctors advice and stayed in longer and have more antibiotic IV but unfortunately I made the wrong choice and decided to come out early with oral antibiotics.

The doctors advised with my big Lymphodema legs that it would come back if I left too early, better to stay in until the infection had completely gone.

I should have listened to them, annoyed with myself as now in fear that it will come back.

If I do have to go back into hospital I don't expect I will be lucky enough to go back into Whitley Ward.

Thank you so much for your positive review on NHS Choices - your kind words have been shared with the entire team. The staff on Whitley Ward work hard and do their best to provide excellent care to patients daily so it is great to hear when we have achieved this.
