"My 84 year old mother was admitted to..."

About: Stepping Hill Hospital

Anything else?

My 84 year old mother was admitted to SHH in March and died three days later.

Her clinical treatment was satisfactory but we had to make a formal complaint regarding other aspects of her care and very poor communication. The hospital upheld our complaint, apologized and assured us that procedures had been put in place, or tightened, to ensure that future patients would be treated with due regard to maintaining their dignity, and that they would be in a clean and tidy environment at all times.

I suggest that relatives and friends of elderly patients check that high standards of care are maintained by all members of staff.

Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time and trouble to contact us after the loss of your mother earlier this year - it must continue to be a very sad time for you and your family.

I agree with your comments and I would also like to encourage patients, relatives and visitors to inform us when standards do not meet their expectations so that staff are aware of the situation and can take immediate steps to put things right. It is a priority for this Trust that we provide the highest standards of care and treatment, dignity and respect for all patients.
