"Late review of carpal tunnel operation."

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Outpatients

(as the patient),

I had a carpal tunnel operation in August 2015 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. I was informed at the time that I would be asked to return for a review after 3 - 6 months. I received the outpatient appointment in August 2017 despite calling at my GPs insistence 7 months after the operation. Just as well I haven't had any problems or maybe I just haven't noticed them!

When I called about the review appointment, 7 months after the operation, the person I spoke to was not helpful and quite dismissive.

Dear Milktray,

Firstly I must apologise for the time it has taken us to respond to your post and I'm really disappointed that you had to wait so for your review following your operation. As an organisation we aim to care, listen and improve and I can see that we haven't lived to up to this. I'm not sure what happened but I will ask the service to post a reply as soon as possible.

Take care,

Kirsten
