"I had an awful stay on postnatal ward at epsom..."

About: Epsom Hospital / Maternity

I went into epsom hospital with suspected broken waters and reduced movement I was abruptly taken into have trace done on baby the midwife was rude and abrupt not at all friendly I was then about to be discharged happy with what the midwife heard to be told by doctors i needed an induction due to the reduced movements .. I was then sent to the ward to wait until things happen in a cubicle with no lamp from 4pm-my baby's heartbeat wasn't checked I was left wait on my own no gas and air no gown offered to go into labour alone I was finally examined at about 10pm to be told I was 4cm dilated unfortunately my waters broke and I had a cord prolapse was rushed into theatre everybody shouting a very traumatic situation to be put under general to have an emergency c section within 10 mins he was born .. I was taken to recovery where I had 1-1 midwife care for the day where I was very impressed with the treatment .. They were wonderful .. Couldn't have helped more with baby and my aiding my recovery ..

By that evening it was decided I was well enough to be taken up to the postnatal ward where I was treated terribly firstly went into a private room where it cost £150 to find I had no tv but had to be paid for at extra cost !! The two midwives who had been very rude came in and I asked could my catheter be removed as was worrying how i'de get up to the toilet and feed baby all wired up and with no help which was the feeling I got as soon as I got onto this ward from the midwives attitudes I was told catheter should stay in .. And to move around or I'll get pressure points .?!!

I felt

I had just been abandoned in this room I asked to be moved onto ward to hopefully receive more attention. ..

I was very wrong and by this point very upset my catheter was not changed and went onto leak out everywhere the midwives abruptly and rudely cleared it up making me feel very small and horrible I was in floods of tears and very emotional I could not lift my baby up myself I told them this to be ignored and felt I had been abandoned I did not get any compassion after what I had been just been through and was clearly distressed ..not 1 of the midwives had a kind word to say or were any comfort to me in anyway I felt so terrible lightheaded and very unwell I was taken off the oxygen to early in recovery continued through the night in pain and to cope lifting baby unnamed out of cot myself and felt like a pain in backside to them everytime i pressed the bell for more milk or pain relief I also had to ask 3/4 times for my catheter to be changed as was very full and actually causing me great discomfort they were soo rude about and said to me do you want it out ?! At 3am so rude .. All in all I have had an awful experience in postnatal ward I have had a uterus infection a urine infection and have been bk in and out of hospital to be today told I need to go bk in for a blood transfusion .. The ward was far to hot and the bathroom was dated dirty and disgusting
