My wife was immobile for more than 1 year and I cared for her without any outside help this eventually caused me to become depressed and I was admitted to Croy House Alisa Hospital in late December last year, my wife subsequently died just over a week later. My depression was then diagnosed as clinical I was under the care of Dr Mey and over a period of some 7 months several anti-depressants were tried I was in a very sorry state and although the staff reassured me that I would get better I didn't believe them I had CBT input and OT input as well as being looked after by a dedicated team I could not see a light at the end of the tunnel but no one gave up on me I reached a point about 5 weeks ago when I saw no future for me without my wife who was also my soul mate something happened to me, it can only be described as miraculous because the next day I found hope from somewhere and my outlook on life changed in the ensuing days I was able to see that I could build a life for myself that did not include my wife whom I love with all my heart.
Due to the dedication of all the Staff in Croy House I was discharged from hospital last week. If anyone reading this is depressed my advice would be Don't Give Up Before The Miracle Happens. Everyone is different and one medication doesn't fit all it took some time to find the correct medication for me but that is not always the case. I will be eternally grateful for the input of all staff of Croy House who helped me to regain a life which is different to the one I had but I have been given hope from what appeared to be a hopeless situation Thank you all.
