I was admitted to Pankhurst Picu in January 2017 from another priory hospital. I honestly can't believe how different two hospitals can be ! I arrived there at night for around 10 staff to be waiting for me ( I do not have a history of violence and aggression) I was body searched when I arrived and told I could not have my iPhone ( my only way of keeping in touch with my family who where on holiday in the carribean) . I got told I wasn't allowed my belonging until the morning as they had to check then which yes is fair however I was made to sleep in my day clothes and couldn't have a shower. Over the next week my stay made me so depressed . Some support workers where nice howver none of the staff where approchable I'd knocked on the office door majority of the time staff didn't answer. One one occasion a staff member shouted at another patient. A member of staff signed to say they had giving me medication however they hadn't. Many members of staff couldn't speak English. The food was disgusting and the salad was made from cabbage. The walls were smeared in god knows what, chunks out of the walls, no curtains for privacy, ward was disgusting !!! When I arrive my room hadn't been hoovered. The bed are basically wooden camp beds. The outside was was grim all the plants where dead. The building isn't purpose built anymore .Luckily after a week I wa dtransfered back to the priory Darlington which is excellent. Honestly if they say you are being admitted here run! Fingers crossed it will pick up standards.
"The worst inpatient stay of my life !"
