I spent one night in this short stay ward. I was booked in for 2 nights but decided after one to leave a sap. It felt a bit like a scene from an episode of Benny Hill! All my medicines were left on my bedside table, including insulin. Nothing was locked away. I dealt with my own medication, including insulin injections. The doctor told me how much. I was asked to do my own blood sugars, even during the night! I asked the doctor what would happen if I went into a hypo during my sleep. They told me I would wake up straight away!. I had an afternoon procedure. I was given information beforehand that I would be given something to eat when I got to the ward. The staff had obviously not read the instructions. It was around 9.00 pm before they realised. I was offered vegetable soup but they had to remove all the vegetables! This proved impossible so I had tomato soup! They had nothing else suitable! My bed was not made in the morning and still had not been made when I returned from the colonoscopy. This would be unheard of in the main hospital.l had 2 accidents and was very grateful to the nurse who helped me clean up but it wasn't until the next morning that it was thoroughly and properly cleaned. The cleaner did a fantastic job. My procedure went very well and I was well looked after?
