"Excellent Service - Remember it is a Minor..."

The nurse who saw us, had a lovely attitude, Although we had raced to the unit thinking our child had a serious injury as would not walk, the nurse reduced our stress with their calm manor and attitude. At the time we thought why are they not sending for an x-ray and just offering analgesia and to then wait for review. Others in the waiting room commented that this nurse often does that and if you want an x-ray you have to go to A&E.

After a while the same nurse re-examined my child who was no longer distressed and able to walk on his ankle. We were given an excellent advice sheet and told to observe and return if further concerns - we did not need to as the advise given was accurate.

Like some other comments on this site many people came out complaining this unit was unable to treat their condition, despite their GPs sending them as they had no appointments but to me the name above the reception says it all - Minor Injuries Unit. A warning to fellow users this is what it is, it is run by nurses with no doctors.

Having spoken to am A&E doctor since, they confirmed the simple task of giving Paracetamol before attending, does help to assess and save unnecessary investigations and doses of radiation in the form of an X-rays.

Thank you

PS My son loved the skeleton.
