Below is a letter I wrote to the Chief Executive to convey my appreciation of the care that I had received from the Home Birth Team at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
Dear Ms Head,
I have recently had the pleasure of giving birth to my third child under the care of T. Ashton and the home birth team. I can not speak highly enough of my experience.
Tanya and her team provided exemplary antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. I work as a GP and it has been a real pleasure to experience true continuity of high level care from an extremely well run, experienced and highly committed NHS team.
I am quite convinced that the home birth team and their excellent model of care has prevented me having another complicated delivery and long recovery time. With my previous history, I was reluctantly going to opt for an elective caesarian this time round, however, Tanya gave me the confidence to try for another VBAC and I am very pleased that I did! I feel very lucky to have been able to give birth in hospital, but with the support of a midwife who I knew and trusted and who created an environment where I felt supported, relaxed and in control. Tanya did an excellent job and I am quite convinced that without her there, I would have ended up with another instrumental delivery or emergency caesarian section.
I am sure that you already know what an excellent service Tanya and her team are providing but I wanted to write as I was so very impressed with the care that I received. I couldn't have hoped for a more positive experience overall and I am so very grateful for all that Tanya and the team have done for me.
Yours sincerely,
"I couldn't have hoped for a more positive experience"
