The care I received on labour ward was second to none. Having had quite a long labour I saw a lot of midwives all of whom were lovely and made me feel at ease. However postnatal ward completely let the maternity services at Torbay down. We were barely seen by any staff and when we were we found them to be quite rude in particular 2 maternity support workers who offered no support and actually made me feel pretty useless! Shifts changed and a midwife came to discharge me to see that none of the postnatal checks had been done despite being there over 12 hours! after such a good experience on labour ward it was a shame postnatal couldn't offer the same.
