"My first delivery"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I gave birth to my first baby. I couldn't feel my baby move and I was bleeding close to my due date. I rang the hospital and they asked me to come in straight away. I was feeling really nervous and scared. The doctor had a look at me after about 30mins I have arrived. He told me nothing to worry about and I have started labour. Need to be admitted. Waiting for a bed at the labour ward took a long time. We was waiting for 2 or 3 hours but once I was moved there everything started really quickly. The midwifes were brilliant. They knew what to do and give me plenty of confidence. I was very impressed with them and grateful as how much they help me. Once the baby was delivered. We were move to another ward. The nurse and doctors were really good. They constantly check up on me. Answered every questions I had. I was impressed how clean the ward was. The only thing I would change will be having a toilet closer for my husband to use. The public toilet was on the other side of the hospital

Thank you for taking the time to share you birth story. Please accept our apologies if you were caused any distress by waiting for a bed on labour ward. I am pleased to hear though that once your labour started it happened quickly. Additionally it is good to hear that you found our maternity team gave you confidence and answered all your questions. We welcome suggestions on how to improve our service and will forward your suggestion about the toilet facilities to the senior management team. Thank you.
