"Treatment at A and E"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow

(as a service user),

After visiting my GP I was referred to Queen Elizabeth in Glasgow. Upon arrival I was sent twice to Assessment Unit and twice sent back to A and E. Although I had surgery in this hospital just over 3 weeks ago this was a different issue. I was seen by a consultant who informed me that my GP and the consultant who operated on me had dumped me on them and it wasn't their problem. I thought this was a vile thing for a consultant to say to a patient and I did  not like hearing their contempt towards other medical collegues. For the record neither my very competent GP nor the exceptional consultant who operated on me have ever dumped me on anyone.

Everywhere you look in hospitals there are posters rightly so stating staff have a zero tolerance to abuse. Thats a two way street. Nowhere is it stated that verbal abuse from the staff is part of the patient experience.

Dear Park725

Thank you for taking the time to post on Care Opinion. I am sorry to read about your experience of care in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Our aim is that all of our patients should be treated with dignity and respect and this has not happened from what you have described.

The General Manager of the service would like to look into what you have shared further. So that this can happen, can you please email me at Lisa.Ramsay@ggc.scot.nhs.uk with you name, date of birth, CHI number (not essential) and quote the reference 384891?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes
Lisa
