"There was even an offer to hold my hand when I needed it"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Referred to STH (following routine cervical screening) for colposcopy. Treatment was originally deferred as at the time I was pregnant. Staff were extremely helpful at that time explaining options and alleviating any immediate concerns.

This pregnancy ended in a miscarriage a few months later so I returned to STH in order to proceed with the colposcopy and treatment.

I was extremely impressed with the service and people who looked after me. There was genuine concern and sympathy for my miscarriage experience (the team actually recognised me from my last visit which made such a difference as I was nervous and emotional about the experience), the procedure was comprehensively explained to me and there was even an offer to hold my hand when I needed it.

A fairly unpleasant procedure made so much better by being treated by such lovely caring professional people. They were wonderful.

Thank you Jenni for your feedback. I was sad to hear of your miscarriage but it was good to hear about the thoughtful staff and that they made what was not a very nice procedure bearable for you.

I will ensure that the feed back is passed on to our staff who are always grateful to have such kind words.

Best wishes
