At the age of 75 I have just had my first hospital 'Op'. The procedure was a skin graft from the leg to replace a basal cell carcinoma (BCC) on the skull in the Kingston Hospital Day Unit
Having heard of 'problems' in the NHS with lack of money and staff, I was slightly concerned about the entire process.
From my initial GP appointment through to the final dressing clinic today everything was faultless.
The waiting time for a hospital assessment was minimal, I was seen before my scheduled time at each stage - assessment, operation and two dressing clinics.
Every member of staff that has dealt with me has been outstanding - receptionists, surgeon, staff nurses, nurses and trainees.
A wonderful and, strangely, enjoyable experience
