"Pregnancy issues"

About: Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust

My daughter is having a very difficult pregnancy and has hyperemisis gravidarum (second pregnancy) with complications of numerous bleeds. Burnley hospital has treated her for hyperemisis and seen her for the bleeds (once making her attend an appointment at 3am as they had no appointments until then and did not want her to wait until the morning). My daughter doesn't drive and had to make arrangements for her daughter to be cared for and get a taxi to and from the hospital at that time when she had called them before teatime.

She has been prescribed blood thinners and was told this would be reviewed with consultant however no one would let her see one when she went for a further scan as she wasn't booked in for one and told her to stop the blood thinners without being assessed.

She has been experiencing pain and blood in her urine and gp advised her to contact the hospital, to be advised that her urine was clear of infection a week and a half earlier and to call antenatal at Blackburn to be seen however they neither would give her an appointment and proceeded to have dark red urine. I have advised her to ask gp to authorise blood tests to check kidneys and also her iron levels as was prescribed iron which she is unable to take due to hyperemisis and no one seems concerned.

Antenatal services are overstretched and I feel my daughter and granddaughters health are being put in jeopardy due to the lack of support available. This is her second pregnancy so she is fully aware of what is normal and what is not she now feels that she cannot contact Burnley due to the amount of times she has needed to be seen, rehydrated and seen for bleeding. If you cannot seek medical advice for real issues in pregnancy who are you meant to see?
