"Compassion & reassurance in difficult situations"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Reproductive Medicine

(as a service user),

Currently undergoing IVF treatment for the 2nd time after a failed attempt last year. Very traumatic and anxious time for myself and my partner. Just wanted to thank the fertility team for always treating us with the utmost respect and compassion. Nothing is ever too much to ask from the doctors, lab staff, nurses to the lovely friendly reception team. Special thanks to the truly lovely ward sister whose trust and commitment to patient centred care has meant more to me than I can put into words and a special mention also to the nurse Gilllian who I only met for the first time this week. Really felt that she took extra time to answer my questions, really empathise with my concerns, helped put plans in place to alleviate my fears and truly provided me with so much reassurance that despite feeling angry and emotional about my situation prior to attending the clinic that morning I left and could not keep the smile off my face. I left excited and empowered that everything would be ok.

Dear MrsCM

Thank you so much for sending us your feedback. Undergoing fertility treatment can lead to such a rollercoaster of emotions and it is so important that the staff you meet are understanding, informative and caring which is what you have experienced. The staff will be delighted to see this and I will make sure that it is shared with them.

I wish you and your partner every success with this round of treatment

Jenny
