"Sense of Community project - Canterbury Ward"

About: Rampton Hospital

(as the patient),

I am part of the Sense of Community project on Canterbury Ward. We're doing a garden project, seen a similar example on E block.

Plan developed individually and then combined as a shared project.

Plan - a mindfulness path, a water feature, flower beds and a polytunnel.

1. A diversion from every day routine. Provides a good facility resource for patients and staff, that will be peaceful and enjoyable. It would give different people responsibilities for various aspects - e. g. the water feature, the polytunnel.

2. Concerns that the budget of £1000 wont go as far as we would like.

Organisation - now security issues have been sorted, we need to have a plan of action.

Who has special knowledge? Can individuals with special skills be identified and used well.

3. Could our OT Glen help by taking charge of the costings and controlling the finances?

Hi there,

The sense of community garden sounds and looks fantastic. I have seen the plans and these look extremly ambitious, but exciting. Gardening is a good theraputic distraction but the added bonus is you get to sit and walk around something you have designed and made yourselves.

Your OT has already discussed the costing with the Directorate and we are looking at what can be supported. Good luck and well done.
