I got an appointment quickly which I was really grateful for as I'd had concerns about my health for some time. It had taken considerable courage to discuss my symptoms with my GP and I felt he understood, hence the referral.
However, the appointment with the consultant was unpleasant: I felt rushed and as though I wasn't listened to. The symptoms that concern me most were not even looked at. To be told that the symptoms I experience are not indicative of a condition I fear I have contradicts information on both the NHS website, as well as that of the association's site.
I was too upset and confused to form a logical argument as well as afraid of fuelling the opinion that it's a psychological issue. I thought that I could manage this appointment alone but feel I need to share my experience with others in case it prompts them to take a friend/relative with them. I also read another person's story and their experience sounded so similar to mine I think it's important to highlight this.
