I was in for a vaginal hysterectomy, posterior and anterior repairs and, naturally, felt a bit apprehensive. I was met with both professionalism, kindness and pleasant good cheer.
The attitude of the staff made me feel safe and comfortable and I cannot fault nurses, Nicolle, Scott, Hilary and Alison, all of whom worked cheerfully and efficiently to make my overnight stay a good experience.
In the part of any operation where the patient must feel most vulnerable (I did! ), I must commend especially, anaesthetist Cath, who was particularly cheerful and matter of fact and dispelled all my apprehensions of being knocked out for the count!
I thank Dr McKinley, her team and the NHS for an operation which would have been financially outwith my remit in most other countries, including the USA.
What could be improved? The public's attitude to the NHS.
"Met with professionalism, kindness and pleasant good cheer"
