"Given wrong advice"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service)

(as the patient),

When I called NHS regarding a strangulated bowel I was told to wait up to 3 hours on a phone call from a nurse. I was unable to wait 3 hours and made my own way to A&E where I was told it was a medical emergency and I had done the right thing by presenting at A&E rather than waiting up to 3 hours as any delay could have led to serious complication or proven fatal. There seems to be a real problem with receiving the appropriate help using NHS 24.
