I have now been for treatment three times. The first time My eye was scratched and I had a difficult Saturday until I was treated eventually at St George.'s Tooting. The other two have been more successful. While I am grateful that such treatment is supplied free under the NHS I feel the time patients spend waiting is unacceptable. On my last visit it took 45 minutes before I read the eye chart. Some time later I had a scan and after having been at the hospital for almost two hours I finally had the injection. It is not a pleasant procedure and apprehension builds as delay grows. The overall wait makes it a traumatic event. Surely it should be possible to manage time better and make it a less stressful treatment for patients. All the staff are very professional and it must be equally difficult for them to always be working against the clock.
I also dislike the small corner where patients wait. It is very claustrophobic.
