"Awful experience"

About: Royal Free Hospital / Maternity

The doctors and Mid Wives who I have met with have been extremely unqualified! I had chicken pox and was told by a doctor that I dint need an early scan as I hadn't miscarried and that is the only symptom. I then had to tell the doctor what the side affects of chicken pox in pregnancy is and then watch them type in google "side effects of chicken pox" and then confirmed what I had said was in fact correct. I was also not put on high risk care even though I had 3 of the high risk symptoms and was later told by my sonograph doc that I very much should be on high risk treatment and need frequent scans and appointments with the doctors.

Expect a waiting time of at least one hour for a doctor and when you ask the reception if they have any idea how long the delay will be - their response is "This is the NHS love, expect up to half a day"!!!!

And I am suppose to trust giving birth here???! Rude, unqualified, short staffed and highly unprofessional. If you are a high risk patient they could have a terrible effect on your pregnancy and you have to second guess everything you are told. Not ideal for a first time mom either!

Dear Natasha

Thank you for taking time to leave feedback; in reading through it I am very sorry for the experience you have had to date. What you list here is not acceptable and in speaking with the consultant midwife they has asked me to pass their personal apology to you.

They would also like to offer you the opportunity to meet so they can better understand how things went wrong and also offer you some reassurance going forward and with your birth.

If you would like to meet then please email me at rf.patientexperience@nhs.net

Kind Regards

Richard Chester - deputy director of patient experience
