I visited the hospital last Monday. I think I knew what the doctors decision was before I even met them but I didn't expect the reaction that I received. I need a knee replacement, they told me very clearly that I would probably break the operating table because I am too heavy(. I have had three operations in the last year). As far as I know haven't broken anything yet. They said it was a very difficult operation without having to go through three inches of fat to get there.
Did they really have to say these things, and in such a cruel and offensive manor. I came out feeling worthless, I knew it would be difficult to get this operation, but please whats happened to the bedside manner and patient respect. I would love to name the Doctor concerned but cannot.
Yes I am heavy and knew it would be difficult to get the OK to have it done, but a little pleasantness and a kinder word would have gone a long way.
