"No compassion or consideration to personal..."

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Dermatology

I was referred here for urget cancer treatment, on June 14th, after Leicecster sent my appointments to the wrong address. I saw specialist, I had not expected to need a skin graft but on the day I was told I would probably need one. A that point I asked if I could have a sedation as I was already facing a large excision to my back & I did not feel I could cope with local anaesthetic alone. I was told I would have to go to Nottingham & wait even longer. Recently finding out I had cancer, then facing my first experience of surgery I became upset, specialist asked what was wrong, they said "is it me" I thought why on earth ask me that, my situation was the reason I was upset. They told me that there were a room full of people out there who had all had procedures with just local anaesthetic. I am an individual person with my own feelings & fears! I had an appointment with a nurse the following week, non melanoma related but we ended up talking about my surgery, they saw how upset I was & arranged an appontment for me to see a Doctor that day. The Doctor prescribed me diazepam, just to calm my nerves, a very low dose. I was told to advise the specialist of this. On June the 3rd, four days prior to my surgery date I received an email suggesting that the specialist now felt it better that I go to Nottingham & have the surgery under a general anaesthetic, the following day or the following week. Cut a long story short they cancelled my appointment for July the 7th & I am now left back at square one, two and a half months after my initial biopsy. My Doctor said it was perfectly safe to take one diazepam before surgery, when I asked the specialist why they had not realised my worries at the consultation & offered me a GA then, they said I am offering it now, I said they had showed no compassion on that day, they said well make a complaint. An absolutely appuling attitude towards a very nervous cancer patient.
