Today I went to Larbert Hospital to have a dermatofibroma removed from my lower leg. I came prepared to wait a long time and decided to arrive 15 minutes early at the ambulatory care unit rather than going for a coffee. I handed over my letter to a helpful nurse who informed me that the person before me had not turned up and that I could be taken through immediately. My partner was encouraged to come through with me.
The nurse turned out to be the practitioner performing the minor operation. He (David) had a lovely manner, was very reassuring, communicated the procedure clearly and performed it in a very professional yet informal manner, putting me completely at ease. The nurse assisting him was friendly and very interactive. I was only in the unit for 30 mins, reading matter completely untouched and procedure completed successfully.
