My father in-law had the misfortune to attend this hospital on two occasions.
After over 8+ long hours he was finally admited to the Frailty Unit.
The ward itself was clean and the staff did their best, but as family we felt the elderley were treated as an inconvenience.
He ended up with a bed sore and an unsafe discharge after approx 5 days.
He was home for 2 days and then readmiited and had to undergo the same long wait and ended up on the same unit!
He has now been transfered to Ward 31, which we were led to believe was a rehab ward but found out two days later that it was for paitients who are medically fit but need rehab.
This ward has no televisions or stimulation for the patients.
We are told they've no idea how long he will be there.
He is getting worse every day he is there and we are at the point of just taking him home.
You need to have a better system and communicate better with relatives.
Staff should be trained to look after elderley people with more compassion and understanding.
You also need to look at installing tvs on these wards!!
