"Bad experience in gynaecology"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Gynaecology Clinic

(as a service user),

Horrendous experience; I have a diagnosis of endometriosis, and it is becoming hard to manage.

At the appointment I saw a junior doctor who examined me and saw endometriosis near my cervix and wanted to go ahead with surgery but the consultant advised that it would be too soon. This led to about 10 minutes of discussion, and by that I mean serious scare tactics. The consultant only mentioned the risks as if they were fact, that I could end up with a stoma, or get septic if I had the operation, that it wouldn't help, that I could die, and only one surgeon out of a team of ten could perform the procedure.

I left there with a prescription for some medication, a promise that this would cure all my problems, and told 'the only thing that treats chronic illness is luck'.

I don't have much faith in this medication I sure as hell don't have faith in that consultant.
