"epilepsy treatment and referral waiting rime"

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter started having seizures September 2016. Before her 6th birthday, just put it down to a fainting episode the first time that it happend. 2nd seizure was as we were walking to the bus stop, 5 days after her 6th birthday. Went to a and e, got sent home. 3rd was while getting the flu vaccine at school went to a and e then got sent home again.

After this she was suffering headaches to the back of the head. Got referral from gp to the hospital. After this waited 5 months for mri scan she ended up having 2 seizures while coming round from sedation. She had eeg before Christmas. Seen consultant  May this year, been referred to another consultant only to be told after not hearing anything about it until I rang the department that she has an appointment at a different hospital but not until September!

Meanwhile school are constantly on the phone, my daughter is complaining about her head hurting and is displaying other minor symptoms. Why does the waiting time have to be so long with the NHS? I'm even considering taking her to a private hospital near us just so it could be sorted quicker.
