"Cancelled Operation to be told to have it in 2 months time"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was having a new knee fitted but I was told 4 days before the date that it had been cancelled because of my diabetes.

It took the hospital 3 weeks between taking the blood and telling me the news. Then it took another week to get the results to my GP surgery so I could go onto insulin. I needed to be a 7, but within 4 weeks I was a 7. 5. I was pricking my finger every morning and the reading was between 5. 2 and 7. 4, in the last month, June, I had 8 readings of over 7 out of 30 readings.

After a promise from the hospital that I could have my operation after two months, I have just had a letter from the consultant who seems to have gone back on their word and wants to have a clinic meeting first in a few months.

Now after a promise of 4 month wait, then another promise of 2 month wait making it a six month wait I have to wait again making it a 8 month wait.
