"Urgent Referral from GP"

About: Rochdale Infirmary

I saw my GP at 4.40pm and they contacted the eye unit for an urgent referral. I was driven to the hospital and arrived at 5.40pm. My details were taken and routine eye test carried out. I was seen by a doctor at 6.45pm and given a thorough eye examination. The doctor arranged for blood tests at the hospital and rang me at home at 11pm to give the results and advised that ensured I had already started the medication prescribed by my GP. The doctor said the hospital would contact me to arrange urgent follow up. What an excellent service. Only niggle is that the hospital has not followed up but I am seeing GP tomorrow so hope to hear something soon. All staff excellent including the doctor who took my bloods in A&E. Everyone was very courteous and my husband was even offered a cup of tea whilst he waited for me. This was NHS at it's very best. Many thanks to everyone. Let's hope I hear some more from the hospital soon!

Thank you for your feedback regarding the care, and communication during your time in the department, which has been shared with the Eye Unit; they are delighted to learn that you had a great experience.

If you are still experiencing difficulties with your follow up care, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at your earliest opportunity on telephone 0161 604 5897, or email pals@pat.nhs.uk quoting that you have been advised to do so via NHS Choices, so we can discuss and address the matter.

Regards,

Head of Patient Experience
