"A very grateful first time mom"

About: St Richard's Hospital / Maternity

We had our first child at Chichester in June 2017 and despite being extremely busy we were finally admitted for induction the day after originally plannned. The staff on the labour ward and Tangmere were wonderful and helpful and even though the labour ward was extremely busy with Worthing and Portsmouth both being on divert we were kept informed of what was happening with us and nothing was too much trouble. After 5 days we had our son by emergency caesarean and the midwives that we had met over the various shifts during the week came over to meet him. The midwives that were assigned to us during my labour were amazing and could not do enough for us constantly encouraging me and suggesting positions that may be more comfortable. They even got my husband a cuppa and included him in the bacon butty round as he had not eaten in 10 hours and it was going to be a long day.

The aftercare was just as good with at least 3 midwives helping me with feeding technique when I was struggling. I felt really well supported and the fact that my husband could stay with me throughout the induction process was incredible as we live over 50mins away and he could not just nip home and back.

I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone and want to say thank-you to all the staff from the midwives to the catering staff who always had a smile.
