"Nurses/doctors/unit managers"

About: Peppermill Court Community Unit

The nurses/doctors/unit manager don't seem to really care about caring for patients, your basically a number and they want basic information from you, give you medication and then discharge you even if you've not recovered from your crisis in life. The only staff that seem to care are the carers who happly sit down and talk to you to ensure your ok throughout the day.

‘We are very sorry to hear that you have not had a positive experience of our services at Peppermill Court and that you felt that you were not fully recovered when discharged. This unit operates a purposeful inpatient admission process which ensures that patients are assessed and provided with the most appropriate treatment and care for their individual needs at the time of their admission.

This process is designed to involve carers from the outset of an admission to hospital which can be a worrying and daunting time for people.

The length of the admission is dependent on the person’s needs and is aimed at starting a recovery journey in hospital which can be continued back in the community with other available support, therefore sometimes admissions are short’. We aim to get people back home as soon as possible with ongoing community support as evidence shows this is the most effective way to facilitate recovery. If you would like to discuss your concerns in more detail please contact Matthew Thompson Patient and Carer Experience manager on 0191 3336531 or by email at matthewthompson1@nhs.net
