"Staff going above and beyond the call of duty"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Renal Dialysis

(as a relative),

My Dad who is 89 receives dialysis at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and he mentioned to one of the Nurses his sister in law was a patient in the hospital and if he got off his machine early he was going to try and visit her before the ambulance takes him home.

He spends about four and a half hours at a time on dialysis and one of the nurses went and found out what ward his sister in law was in and arranged for someone to bring her down in a wheelchair to the dialysis unit so she could talk to him while he was receiving his treatment. He was absolutely delighted that they had done this for him and thanked them for doing so.

I also want to praise the staff in the dialysis unit nothing is ever too much of a problem to them and if it is they do not show it.

Regards.

Dear Wasso

Thank you for taking the time to share your Dad's experience on Care Opinion. I was pleased to read about the level of care your Dad received whilst receiving his dialysis, especially that the nurses were able to arrange for his sister-in-law to visit him from another ward.

I will ensure that your kind words are shared with the service. The staff will be delighted to receive your feedback and to know the difference that it has made to your Dad.

Best wishes
Lisa

Dear Wasso

We are delighted that the renal staff took the time to offer your father company from his family during his dialysis session by picking up his sister in law and bringing her down to visit. We will share with the staff that you have offered us this feedback and the benefit you feel that this brought to your father.

Kind Regards
Julia Little, General Manager, Regional Services
