"Not sure what to think"

About: Watford General Hospital / Maternity

I gave birth almost 8 months ago and it wasn't a pleasant experience. I can't say anything bad about the last 9 hours of labour as midwife was lookig after me but anything before and after make me feel sick. I know hospital was busy during my stay. My waters broke well over 70h before I was induced. I am sure I would be kept longer without induction but I noticed on the machine that my baby was in distress and his blood pressure was jumping up and down. I had to harshly ask for the doctor to see me as otherise I felt ignored. I only remember midwifes words during pre labour time " baby is happy so you should be too" or "everything is fine" there was nothing more annoying than that when I simply new it wasnt ok. There was no information as when I will be taken to give birth. I meant to be induced same day I came to the hospital but it happened 3 days later. I never felt so angry and dissapointed. I was exhausted prior labour not because of the pain as I had no contractions but because of the way I was treated. Also, I had to spend extra 3 days in the hospital as my new born baby and me had to have antibiotics because he was keept in my womb for such a long time when my waters broke. He wasnt in the great condition and I had to have epistomy to have ventouse delivery. Before that I meant to have c section so again doctors were adding to the stress I was going through. In general I am really dissapointed with the whole process as it left me extremly frustrated and angry at anything and anyone. Also, I could not breast feed my baby properly too as he had tong tie which caused me and him extra distress. I don't understand why such a simple procedure cannot be sorted out in the hospital. It is 30 seconds job. I decided to pay for it £150 otherwise I would have to wait 4 weeks for it to be done by NHS. I think hospital should employ or rent someone who can do it on site when the babies are born and have that problem especially since there is so much pressure from midwifes to breast feed. I would and I am sure many other parents would happily pay for it so they can enjoy first days of parenthood not like me... suffering from riped nipples because my baby wasnt able to latch properly. I hope other people have great expierience giving birth at Watford...shame I wasnt one of them.
