I was admitted after seeing my GP with severe abdominal pains.
The staff seemed far too busy and firstly took ages to admit me and give me any sort of pain relief.
I still did not have a name tag on my wrist and my drugs that I had brought with me were still lying unlocked away in locker 24 hours later, even though staff were aware I had an allergy!
After being examined and seeing the state I was in, the nurse came and gave me Paracetamol, if I had only need that I would have stayed in the house! !
It only gets worse when I asked again as my pain was intense, firstly you asked then you asked again then you were in tears before it felt anyone really took notice.
I was told by a doctor at Ward round, after trying to explain to them how I felt "what do you want me to fix for you now.. meaning my stomach or my bowel pain!
Are they not the consultant?
The doctor stated they would get my pain relief under control but when I asked for pain relief and it wasn't effective, I had to wait over 2 hours for same because there was no pain measures to see me in this pain? ?
Sorry but in this day that is Shocking, Undignified and totally unforgivable and when I complained bitterly I felt I was treated like a complainer... staff don't hide it well.
The senior member of staff did discuss this with me and I felt they tried to justify it but there is no justification Sorry! !
I signed the internal complaint as I was so angry.
Even although I made them aware of tests done by another doctor I am attending for past 2+years,that indicate my stomach is taking 300 hrs to empty and the fact that I was awaiting endoscopy, I was left another day with no tests apart from bloods? ? Why?
Asking for pain relief again, I felt like a child...humiliated and by this time heartbroken.
I was in terrible pain and felt no one cared.
I was moved to Ward 17 and I could see the gossiping staff as I was wheeled through the door because the complainer was going! !
THANK GOD, what a difference, pleasant approachable staff... why the differences?
They had my pain relief covered quickly and effectively.
The Doctor visited again was just going to leave me but reluctantly referred me for an endoscopy that day.
Results were inconclusive and reports are going to other doctr.
I was let home by on call doctor late afternoon after I managed a very light diet that day.
My treatment in Wishaw General was a very unpleasant experience, with such a long history and tests awaited was the opinion of the doctor I had been seeing over the last 2+ years not sought whilst I was an inpatient maybe they could have assisted? ? ?
This doctor was there I saw them on numerous occasions but patients just can't approach them... can they?
I now may require re scoping so my doctor can get the answers he requires.. what a waste of my and his time and your money! !
I just felt I had to share this as I know Ward 18 is a receiving Ward and is busy but that is no excuse for treating patients in this manner.
