Our second baby was delivered by a midwife and a student midwife.
Both were excellent: attentive, expert, confident, and always clear in what they were doing, where they were going when they needed to step away, and how soon things might happen.
The midwife in particular was terrific when it came to handling a very sudden transition from a controlled labour - where we were planning an epidural - to a quick delivery with just gas and air.
After care was also excellent, and every midwife we dealt with was kind, considerate, and seemed genuinely passionate about their job.
Our first baby was born at a different hospital in a different area, where we were left on a non-labour ward for six hours with no contact at all with nurses or midwives.
This time around could not have been more different, and it all made for an excellent delivery experience.
"Excellent midwives"
