"Went above and beyond in their role"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / General Surgery Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

After presenting at my medical practice with acute abdominal pain, I was taken into ARI surgical ward 208 by ambulance. The paramedics Gary and Byron were absolutely amazing. They helped me as my condition worsened and supported me, not just medically with pain relief but with emotional support as I was alone and anxious.

They communicated with me well and really went above and beyond in their role. They had me laughing when I wanted to cry. Surgical 208, pink zone have the most amazing team! My nurse Laura and HCSW Debbie were just fantastic! They listened to my questions, took their time to explain everything, they treated me with dignity and respect. I work for a different hospital in the NHS but I am so proud that I can call Laura and Debbie colleagues. They are truly outstanding members of staff and an absolute asset to your team!

Dear 1stTimePatient,

Thank you very much for taking the time to get in touch via Care Opinion.

I hope you have made a full recovery after your spell of illness and hospital stay.

It is great to read your complimentary feedback of the care afforded by Gary and Byron during your ambulance transfer to hospital.

It sounds as though you had been in a lot of pain and it is important for the crew to work within their scope of practice to alleviate this for you and to reassure you during this time.

I would really like to pass on this feedback to the crew and to help me do that, it would great if you could call the Aberdeen admin team on 01224 812200 to pass on some additional details to allow us to ensure we identify the correct crew.

The Scottish Ambulance Service aim to provide the very best of care to our patients and it is fantastic to recieve positive feedback from our patients.

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch.

Take care,

Euan..

Thank you for your wonderful feedback.

It is so good to hear that once our Scottish Ambulance Service colleagues delivered you (while laughing!) to our hospital care that you found the team in Ward 208 to be amazing.

I am sure your specific feedback for Laura and Debbie will be very much appreciated by them. It sounds like they hit the standards we all aim for when looking after the people in our care. You say you are proud to call them NHS colleagues and I have to say I am feeling proud too as I read your post. I am so pleased to read your comments and appreciative of you taking the time to feedback.

I will share this post with the team in 208 and make sure that Laura, Debbie and all of the team see your comments.

I hope you are recovering well from whatever brought you into our care and thank you again for posting.
