"Maternity Triage"

About: St Peter's Hospital / Maternity

Had first child here in 2013 and medical & healthcare team outstanding but significant feeling of understaffing at weekends then and now when in via triage. Huge delays in being seen at first and then being discharged after being deemed fit to go home. Their clinical team working seems great but seems paradigm of the 24/7 or Weekend NHS press we are seeing because the midwifery team seem to have too few doctors in at weekends to enable efficiencies to occur. Still they are a kind, friendly and hard working bunch and they did a stellar job in terms of treatment.

Thank you for your feedback about our maternity team and your kind words about how friendly and hard-working they are. Whilst we ensure safe levels of staffing around the clock our team do work under great pressure and, as is the case for many other hospitals, recruitment remains one of the challenges we face. We are sorry if we were short staffed during your visit and that meant you experienced delays in being seen and sent home.

We really value feedback from women using our maternity services and if you would be willing to further discuss how we could improve triage and discharge that would be great. Please get in touch with me directly.
