"A&E"

About: Northern General Hospital / Accident and emergency

18 June 2017 - I was referred to the A&E after the emergency Dr refused to come and see me as the pain relief my my slipped disk and sciatica was not working.

I arrived at the A&E early hours of the morning and was literally about to fall as I walked in due to the severity of pain.

All I saw were the receptionists talking amongst themselves whilst I waited behind the blue line.

Luckily for me as I was about to fall 2 African women came and held me at which point the receptionist realised my existence.

I was provided with a wheel chair and informed I would be seen as an Emergency.

I was taken into the Red Room where the receptionist was reprimanded for bringing me in as I was not an emergency and only had sciatica.

This was said in front of me which made me feel worse as the nurse failed to address the agony I was in.

Whilst I believe there were several patients who needed care prior to me, I found this customer service appalling.

I was left in a wheelchair to cry.

Despite the Red Room being fairly empty, I was not given a bed or any medication was administered several hours later by the same senior nurse.

When I asked what it was the nurse walked away and refused to communicate with me.

The nurse

was due to go off duty at 0500 hours.

The nurse left at 0520 hours and only after that did a nurse approach me and empathise that I had still not been examined.

the nurse sought out a doctor who was also clearly annoyed at seeing me there. The doctor told me I was wasting my time and hospital time by being in A&E and did not bother examining me.

The doctor prescribed medication and informed me I could leave.

I was in sheer agony and had no assistance to get a taxi or walk out of the hospital.

I am totally disgraced be the service and I had to advised by a iThe GP to go there and it wasn't by choice.

The customer service was absolutely awful and I was made to feel belittled by the staff and punished for being there.

The medication has not worked and I am in severe pain yet I am sitting here contemplating whether to go to hospital or put up with my health condition and allow it to worsen.
