"Please thank your security staff on my behalf"

About: Calderdale Royal Hospital / Older people's healthcare

After my elderly mother was attmitted late evening on the 21st June I offered to take her 82 year old husband home and arranged for him to say goodnight to mum in private as waited outside the ward for him, however after waiting 10 mins he did not arrive so I went back into the ward to find no sign of him. I spent the next 40 mins desperately dashing round the hospital its car parks and nearby bus stops looking for him to no avail. When I asked the security if they had noticed an elderly gentelman who was maybe looking lost , security were exceptionally helpful and immeadiatly sprang from their seat asked their colleague to look at the cctv and see if theycould find him for me. Security then walked me round the hospital and car parks and we again checked the bus stops then back to the desk where they had tracked the old man down and plotted his route , he had aimlessly pottered around the hospital and grounds then wondered towards the main road. I decided to drive to the house and see if he had got home and the security staff asked for my phone number promising that if he wasn't home they would continue to help in any way possible. I drove to the man's home and he wasn't there so called into my sister's who lives nearby luckily he was there as I arrived at my sister's house it was almost midnight and my phone began to ring it was the security staff phoning as they had promised to check if all was well. I cannot thank these two members of security enough luckily all was well but if it had not have been I know these two lovely people would have helped even more and for that I am most thankful . They deserve heartfelt praises, please pass this to their superiors and my personal thanks to both of them.

Thanks from Joanna
