"Mental health failure"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Accident and emergency

I lost all hope in the NHS system when I bought my sister into the hospital on 3 occasions who was experience an acute psychotic episode. All 3 times I was sent home. On my 3 rd attempt my sister lay on the floor telling doctors that she was not safe and that I was not safe with her either. She was deeply distressed as was I. A doctor took us both into a room and laughed in my face as the doctor continued to tell me the doctor didn't know what I should do but that there was no space for my sister. The doctor swore. In a panic I begged the doctor to call in another doctor. My sister was then assessed again. At this stage she was dilarious, incoherent and distressed on the floor. They sent me home with 2 anti hestimine tablets. Devastated and scared for my sisters life(and mine)

I used all my savings and called out a private psychiatric specialist to our home as my sister was now unable to travel. After a 1.5 hour consultation the consultant diagnosed my sister with a chemical imbalance and suffering from a psychotic episode. Unable to care for my sister we had to get a private nurse into our home to assist us. I was so devastated by the treatment we received by the hospital that it has taken me over 1 year to be able to write this review.

This experience has not only left it's scars on my now healing sister but on my entire family. This hospital failed my sister. How many others without family or possibility of a private doctor are they letting down?
