At WRH I was a nervous wreck ,when a consultant informed me that they recommended a course of 5 injections into both my eyes . The consultant spoke to me clearly & honestly , explaining that this would hopefully slow down or maybe even halt the deterioration ,rather than cure my problem . I was also provided with an information leaflet to read when I returned home . My set of appointments were made for Kidderminster & I did not have to wait
long for my letter of all the 5 monthly treatment dates . This enabled me to plan my work & family commitments nice & early . August - Dec 2016
I was not familiar with Kidderminster area or this hospital & felt a bit lost as well as anxious about what lay ahead . The receptionists downstairs were welcoming &
showed me where to go . The assistants who serve in the shop were also friendly .
I entered the Ophthalmology department trembling with fear , feeling nauseous
& was met with polite, helpful courtesy .
From the first nurse who carried out the sight tests & instilled my numerous eye drops to the team who carried out my injections in the day case theatre , I cannot thank them enough . Their patience & kindness will not be forgotten .
( note - I am their nightmare patient , as every time they try to put my drops in , I quickly shut my eyes ) They reassured me throughout the procedure & offered to hold my hand . A calm friendly atmosphere helped , every team member appeared confident in their role The nurse explained clearly what was going to happen before each stage , which helped my nerves immensely . Every visit became easier to attend due to these wonderful people & their caring practice . I cannot sing their praises enough . Thank you
"Caring & thoughtful staff"
