I visited this hospital a couple of times some time ago as an outpatient referral and still do not feel confident nor wish to go back and this hospital is a long way from my home so I have to arrange someone to accompany me using public transport and my experience was awful !
The first consultant I saw was rushed hard to understand, dismissive and basically left me with a "try this try that" situation or as a guinea pig for new anti epileptic medications. They suggested I "try" Lamotrigine which gave me some dreadful side effects and which also did nothing whatsoever for the seizures I have which are severe and frequent
The second consultant was late and extremely rude. They insisted I tolerated a student being present to which I disagreed and from there on they were completely abrupt, arrogant and just wanted to get rid of me as soon as possible so I haven't been there since.
Since then I have had my epilepsy treated and reviewed in primary care by my GP who has prescribed me Tegretol and Tegretol Retard (slow release) for night time which also was not doing anything to control or to reduce my frequent seizures and now I'm taking Pregablin.
Why these people take up a career in the caring professions when they lack common respect for patients dignity time and modesty is beyond me other than the easy money of course - I come from a family of nurses the eldest with 35 years experience I have a long difficult history of epileptic seizures going back to childhood and
I am 60 !
My GP is excellent and knows why I refuse to visit Walton Centre and I tell everyone else
"I agree with the negative experience reviews !"
