What I liked
I couldn't have been better treated in any other hospital in the country. Doctors and nursing staff were professional, courteous, eager to talk me through diagnostic treatments, were respectful and afforded me privacy and dignity when the situation required. The admission process in A&E was slow and I waited for over and hour to be seen by a doctor but when I was, all the procedures were first class. I was admitted into an MAU ward. Food was fine, adequate, but then I didn't expect it to have a Michelin star! There was consideration for people with different cultural needs. While I was there several patients were admitted for drink-related problems and whilst they were treated for the specific injuries/symptoms with respect, they were advised in no uncertain terms that they needed to address the problem and were offered help, advice and referral to this end. The ward was kept clean and nurses overall had a very good attitude with patients and visitors.
What could be improved
Waiting time in A&E.
Anything else?
If this is was a truly representative snapshot of the modern NHS then it should be envied the world over.
