I was booked in at the weekend for an operation.
When I arrived at the hospital it was totally empty! I made my way to day surgery and waited in a dark corridor then 2 nurses came out. I was checked in and put in an open area with 4 chairs and curtains.
Had blood pressure checked and went through the forms. I was second on the list to go down to theatre. The anaesthetic dr came to see me then the surgeon.
They told me that the op worked on 8/10 patients yet on my form it said 55% I was told by one nurse to get my gown on and told by another not to! the theatre nurse and orderly came for me and I was put to sleep in seconds. I woke up to 2 other nurses the op and recovery totalled 1hr I was given tea and toast and told I could leave in around 90 minutes. The staff were friendly the whole area was spotless. The only thing I can fault - and I'm still a bit annoyed about - I was given no advice at all! No aftercare plan nothing. I wasn't told if I could use my arm or move it bend it not bend it
I asked the nurse but they just gave me a blank look. My hand and arm were swollen for 3 days I wasn't told this could happen and what to do about it. I was really upset I felt like you've had your op now go goodbye
I've had to Google aftercare and have been in touch with 2 nurse friends of mine. I would recommend this hospital but would advise everyone to ask questions.
"Bit disappointed"
